So there's one more week until Thanksgiving break (THANK GOODNESS). I'm way excited because I am about ready to keel over from stress. Anyways really nothing is going on right now I just have some pictures to put up here. But one story I do have from my flute sectional today. So our band director had a meeting he had to go to so he wasn't there so the "assistant" band director ran our sectional. He is also still a student and in a bunch of my classes and my neighbor. He's a way nice guy and is always super nice to people. There's this one kid who plays pic in our band and for some reason has an issue with Bryan (student director). Can't figure out why. But anyways. Today Bryan asked this student if he was tonguing something that should have been slurred. Travis (student) said yes he was tonguing and he was going to continue to tongue the note even though his music said to slur it. Pretty much he was just giving Bryan a lot of crap about how he just doesn't care what the music says, he's going to play it how he wants to because "it's not that big a deal." This is false. All articulations in music are very important. Composers put them there for a reason. Anyways. Back to my story. Bryan is taking this all very well and is trying to help Travis, who continues to disregard every word of Bryans. Finally, I get fed up with this so I speak up. All I say is seriously? This guy is a teacher. You wouldn't talk to Bro. Neilsen that way. Just practice it how it's supposed to be played. Then he freaks out at me. Then Bryan just asks him what he thinks Bro. Neilsen would tell him to do to which he replies he would tell me to practice. Then he proceeds to say he doesn't care anymore and walks out. Seriously? We're in college. If you have a problem with someone that is not the way to go about it. This kid is a freshman and thinks he's basically all that. Travis and I are friends, but there was no reason for him to treat Bryan like that. It was super immature and I don't know how Bryan just stood there and took it. Kudos to him though because I wanted to slap the kid. Anyways. Makes me kind of not look forward to teaching because I know I'll have students who are like that and I have very little patience. Anyways. Nick just threw a piece of pasta at the wall. Haha. Back to why I really posted...Kristin is showing and here are some pictures of her!!
Ok that's all in my life right now. Sorry it's kind of super boring. Oh well!! One more week until Chicago!! Then maybe I'll have more to write about. Oh yeah! I don't know how I could forget this. Nick's mom and his two sisters came down this past weekend to go to a Collegiate dance show and it was so much fun to have them here. I'm way excited to see them after we go to Chicago. And to have them come back the first weekend in December. They're way fun to hang out with.
