I cannot believe that my baby boy has turned one! On November 2, 2010 I went to visit the doctor because of the pain. I expected them to tell me that it was nothing and that I should go home. Instead, I found out that I was pretty much in labor. So, Nick and
I went to the hospital and a few hours later, we had a little baby boy. When he was born, he was 6 lbs 9 oz, 2
0.5 inches long with the darkest hair. He was little and wrinkly, and he was mine. Now, here we are a year later, he is 17.1 pounds and 29 inches long. He is still a little guy, but oh how he has changed in that year. Here is what he can do now: He pulls himself up on EVERYTHING. He drinks whole milk now. He can stand up on his own for a few seconds. Yesterday, he took some steps, but I think it was a fluke. He has his 2 bottom teeth, with 4 coming in on top. He knows what he wants and he will let you know if you are not giving it to him. He likes fishsticks (yuck!). Even if
we have just fed him, when we start eating, there he is, demanding that you share your food with him. He likes most food, especially if it is something that Nick or I is eating. If he is done eating, he will put it in his mouth, chew, then pull it out and throw it.
For his actual birthday, we had our neighbors over and had a little party for Koen. Mostly, he got practical stuff, a coat, jacket, cups, plates, forks...We got him

some toys too. Mike and Camille got him a spiderman ball pit. He loves it.

We tried to give him a cupcake, but it didn't work out so well.

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v9.nonxt8.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Dc74f7b531cec564d%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330127198%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D1BB6CE228006344C6D025A27CB58FC78DAF3C59.6FDF8EA3CC564C47790E199BF129EF82DD906872%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Dc74f7b531cec564d%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DWeKr41o83tI70-HDcJUZmN4TkMQ&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

I think that is everything that is going on with Koen for now. Oh.

We gave him a haircut today! First one! It makes him look like a big boy, I don't know how I feel about that.

Nick and I are still in school. I am graduating in about 5 weeks!! It's so crazy because I don't feel like I should be done. Nick will be done in April. He is trying to figure out what he wants to go to school for after he graduates. He is still leaning towards dental school though. I am so excited to be taking a year off. Hopefully he can find a job with his degree. Crazy thing though, we don't have a clue where we will be in 6 months. Kind of scary.

So. That is what is going on with us right now. Here is a last minute thought. Sort of. This is what Koen started out looking like and what he looks like now.

Goings on

So here is what is going on in our lives right now:

School just started, it is my LAST one and Nick's second to last one so we are finally towards the end of our stay in Rexburg!!

Koen has had a fever the last few days so I finally took him to the doctor today and found out that he is getting not just two, but FOUR teeth in right now. And to top that all off, he has a sinus infection. The last few days have been really hard on all of us, but this is the most snuggly he's been in a long time, so we have sort of enjoyed it.

Nick quit his job (not ideal but with his school schedule, he honestly couldn't work).

I still work at Subway (also not ideal).

I am trying to convince Nick to attempt to get a job using his degree in the year that he will be taking off of school.

We are looking at moving to Boise.

Koen is all over the place now and moves everywhere super fast.

Koen is about ten and a half months old now.

I am not excited for this semester because I hardly get to see my husband EVER.

So really that's about it. Our lives aren't too exciting right now so that's why I hardly ever update. Sorry everyone. Not an exciting blog. Well, I guess I could write about what we've done recently because I guess we've done some stuff.

So we went to Utah about two weeks ago because mom and dad came out to visit (finally). It was way fun. Crowded, but fun. Then we went to visit Nick's family because they were down there because Kellie just had her baby. Koen has a friend now!! Anyways, they blessed him that Sunday and then pretty much left straight for AZ, so we helped them clean and pack up and whatnot. While the men were moving a couch up the stairs, they got stuck, something happened, the couch leg went through the glass part of the door, and glass shards dropped into my father in law's arm and he had to go to the hospital and get stitches. According to him however, it was nothing and he just wanted a band aid put on it. But Kellie and Robin made him go, good thing too because he needed another shot. So basically that is all that happened down in Utah, and some other stuff but since it's mainly family that reads this you all know what happened there because you were all there.

Also, mom, Nick opened those pickles and he says they are delicious. He says thank you and he is very happy about his pickles. I, on the other hand, do not like pickle breath. That's okay though, it's not as bad as store bought pickles.

Videos!

So I already put these on facebook, but here they are again!! Also, this semester is almost over and that means it is my last semester ever of taking music classes!!! HALLELUJAH!! Just kidding, I really like my music classes and I'm kind of sad. It's also the middle of finals here, and one of my classes is kicking my butt. That's okay though because I only have it two more times. I can do it! Nick has a lot of tests this week sadly. But then it is the seven week break and I get him all to myself! I am so excited!! It's been like a year since he hasn't had to stress about things. Although I think he is going to start studying for the DAT. Also, I recently discovered that Nick won't be starting dental school until the year after next, so he will be taking a year off. This is perfectly fine by me. I'm actually really excited. We recently decided that for a graduation/honeymoon thing, we are going to take a week long vacation next May. Just the two of us. I love my baby boy, but I sometimes miss the times when it was just Nick and I. Don't get me wrong, I love my baby boy and I'm not looking forward to being away from him for a few days, but I am in much need of a vacation. Also, I have discovered this amazing thing called kindle for my PC. This is a bad thing right now because I need to be focusing on school, but there are all of these free books that I can download. Such a bad thing because I would definitely rather read than do school work. Oh yeah, for those of you who don't know, I recently decided to change my major. The semester before I was supposed to be done with everything, haha. But it works out so much better this way. I don't have to student teach and I don't have to do a senior recital. These weren't going to really be possible anyway because next semester Nick is going to be in school until at least 5 four days out of the week so there would be no way for me to practice my music. But I am so excited. I get to graduate in December and be done and stay home and actually be a wife and mother. I am so looking forward to this. Anyways. So...let's see...these videos of Koen are a few days old now, so he actually is army crawling a lot more and all over the place now. Also, he claps way better now too. I can't believe he is eight and a half months old now. I don't know where the time has gone....
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v17.nonxt7.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3De367bca7d2f77325%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330127198%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D362C02FD2537E27D948B8705C2969005830180A.3177FDF13ADCFABBCEB7AE597C1A5F6A5C629A75%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3De367bca7d2f77325%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DCm6yeMRVp6yp_1dZJHPr8hMj0T0&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v21.nonxt3.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Df4b4ef2f0c903e2e%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330127198%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D11DEDEFE37FE5A4B8ABDF7E59E458E65E05C9289.78C0BBCDF326A26946932A59A79577817830B8B3%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Df4b4ef2f0c903e2e%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3Dr1gjboCCrmy9dg1KSjJUkNlW3vM&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

It's been a while I guess...

So I didn't realize exactly how long it had been since I had last written on here. I don't think a whole lot has changed with Nick and I. We are still working and still in school and I cannot wait for the day for it to all be over. For me that will be next April. Nick will be done next April too, but then hopefully it will be off to dental school after that. If not, then he's going to get his Masters in Mechanical Engineering. So either way, he still has a while before he is completely done with school. Things have changed a lot with Koen though. He's about 7 and a half months old now and it's crazy how fast those 7 months have come and gone. He sits up now completely on his own, but he still falls over every now and then. He isn't crawling yet, but he is starting to try and move around on the ground. He is trying really hard to push himself up but he gets really frustrated when he can't do it. He can eat all sorts of foods now, like meat...which smells like dog food. He eats crackers, yogurt bites, and little puff things, and he makes a mess with all of them. Now I'm trying to let him learn how to feed himself these little finger foods. Crackers are not a problem because they are so big, but once they get so small that all that is left is hidden in his hand he loses interest and drops them. He likes his juice too. I used to water it down, but I don't anymore because I want him to gain more weight. At the last doctor's appointment, he was in the 77 percentile for height, but only in the 1st for weight. The doctor wasn't worried though so I'm not. He was a little under 14 pounds last time, and that was about a month ago so hopefully he's heavier now. Let's see if there is anything else about Koen...Not that I can think of right now. Last weekend Koen and I got to go down to Utah with Kristin and Kimball to visit Caitlyn and her family. It was so fun!! It was crazy to see how much her girls had changed and grown, but it's been a long time since I've seen them so I guess that is to be expected. It was a nice get away because I got to just relax all weekend. Nick stayed home and went golfing with our neighbor and played video games all weekend. I think he really needed that alone time though since he's been so stressed out with school this semester. While we were down in Utah I got to see Nick's sister Kellie and her husband. It was awesome because it had been a while since I'd seen them. There was something else I was going to write about but I just completely spaced on it. I hate when that happens. So now I guess I'll put a few pictures up and hope that I remember what it was that I was thinking about. So, I don't remember. But I am also distracted by the food network. I blame my husband for this. But I love him. Oh yes, I think I was going to talk about Kristin! Haha! Well, sort of. I was just thinking about next semester and I don't know what I'm going to do. Kristin and Jacob are leaving us soon to move to Utah (I think). So now I have to figure out what to do for the next two semesters. The end!

Koen and Joci playing together! It was a little bit cramped for him because he was too long for it, but it worked out.

Disappointed

So while Koen is sleeping on my lap, I will take this time to update our blog. Yay! So this week, all of a sudden I noticed that some of the things I watch are disappointing. I don't know if this is because I have a son now, or if I would have noticed these things anyway. The first thing was when I was watching Glee (for those of you who care, no I don't like where the story has gone, I honestly just watch it for the music). This latest episode was called Blame it on the Alcohol. For some reason this title didn't click in my head as to what the episode would be about. Duh. Underage drinking. Now, I know underage drinking is very common, having grown up with the family and fritnds that I have, just because I'm in Rexburg doesn't mean I live in a bubble. Anyway back to this show. So the principal asks the glee club to sing a song about the dangers of alcohol. Rachel, realizing she's never taken a drink decides she can't do this until she knows what it's like. So she has a party with all of the glee club. They get super drunk, most of them because there has to be a DD, and have a blast. The only downside they show to all of them being drunk is that they all come to school with a hang over. Then the teacher has a really bad day I guess, so he and the football coach go out and get drunk, where the coach tells the teacher, hey you can't prevent it, all you can do is warn them. Yeah I know this is true, but you don't tell teenagers and young kids who watch this show that. Isn't this supposed to be a family show? At least I think that's how it started out. Anyway. So on the day of the assembly, one of the girls says she's nervous about singing (Tick Tock by Ke$ha, seriously?) so rachel pulls out a concoction of all the left over alcohol from her party and they all drink. So they perform drunk and halfway through they all start puking. This grosses everyone out, the principal thinks it's all part of the show, and they don't get punished. I don't usually write about tv shows and such because I just don't feel the need to, but this just seriously bothered me. I feel like this show was telling kids, hey it's ok if you come to school drunk, but just don't let anyone really know that you are. I don't know, maybe I misinterpreted the whole episode, but I was highly disappointed with it. Then the other day Nick and I decided to watch the new Karate Kid movie with Will Smith's kid in it. PG rating. This may not be big deal to some people, but it shocked me. There was swearing in this movie. Not by the adults, but by a 12 year old. Have the swearing requirements in PG movies changed? I would like to be able to put on a KIDS movie and not have to worry about hearing that. That's why I like them. Also, I don't want to have to preview every children's movie that I get for Koen. I should be able to trust the rating right? It's really sad to me that society is letting things like that be ok for young children to hear. I'm not okay with that.

So that's why I'm' disappointed right now. In other news, Koen is almost 4 months old! Three more days and he will be. It's so crazy to me that this much time has already gone by. He hasn't really started doing any new things since the last time I posted, but he is a lot happier now. And he's more content to just lay on the ground and play with his moose or talk to himself. He still isn't sleeping the whole night through yet sadly. For some reason, he's all of a sudden waking up more than he used to. I don't know why, but it sucks for me because it means I'm getting a lot less sleep. But it's okay because I have an awesome husband. This morning, Koen woke up super early, and I fed him, but he didn't go back to sleep like normal. I didn't want to get up because we went to bed pretty late last night so I still wanted to sleep. Nick took Koen out into the living room without me asking him to, and let me get another hour and a half of undisturbed sleep. Oh how I love him! When I came out, Nick was in the kitchen doing homework, and Koen was laying on a blanket in the living room happily talking to himself. Until I came and sat down next to him to get something done. He realized he was hungry. So I fed him again and now he is asleep on my lap. And let me just say, he is like a little furnace.

Sorry, no new pictures right now, I haven't uploaded them yet and I'm too lazy to move Koen and go grab my camera. Here's what he's doing now:

laughing

holding his head up much better

chewing on his hands

drooling

blowing spit bubbles

talking to the tv

talking to anyone who looks at him

loves his bath now!

starting to grip things like his keys and his tag blanket

only waking up twice a night

going to sleep by 10:30 most nights

Also, on Monday he rolled over. Twice! I'm pretty sure it was an accident though. Here's what happened. I was over at Kristin's doing laundry and I laid him on his tummy. I turned around to get something out of the diaper bag and turned back around and he was on his back! I was really confused and for a minute I thought I put him on his back, then I thought about it and realized, no, he was on his tummy. So I flipped him back over and told Kristin what

happened, and he did it again! It was crazy! He hasn't done it again, so I think it was probably a fluke, but I like to think my baby is advanced.

Another thing, Koen sure knows what he wants. He knows how he wants to be held, and if you don't hold him right he screams. Right now his favorite position is sitting up or standing. He LOVES to use his legs. And to drool all over everything. Right now

his favorite thing is to sit in the corner of the couch and eat his hand.

Other Koen related things:

11.6 lbs

24 inches

eyes are still greyish with no sign of brown (there is nothing wrong with brown, I just fear all my kids will have brown eyes because of Nick)

all of a sudden when he sticks his hand in his mouth it looks like he's trying to pick his nose because one finger always goes up there

     Naked baby!! Sort of haha

   Another new favorite thing

Koen in his new favorite place

Koen has a new toy to help him with tummy time and he loves it!

Koen fell asleep like this on my lap one time and I just thought it was cute

Koen's First Captured Laugh

Here is our first recorded video of Koen laughing! Just to warn everyone. Anyway. On to important things. Haha right. So the holidays came and went. They were AWESOME! First it started off with us driving to Utah to fly to Illinois, and we left on a Friday night because supposedly it was not supposed to snow. LIE. We get about halfway there and then it starts snowing so much that we can't see the road. So we follow a semi truck. Then we pull off in Tremonten and call Nick's aunt who lives in Ogden to see if we could stay there for the night. So we did. Then we headed down to Provo the next day to spend time with Nick's sister and her husband. Then we flew out on Sunday. Stayed in Chicago for a few days. It was lots of fun! Then we went to Ohio. Sadly I didn't get to see many of my friends but I got to spend A LOT of time with my family. I'm sad that we didn't get to do gingerbread houses this year. I was looking forward to seeing Dad and Nick working together on one. Let's see...all the grandkids got matching jammies but sadly we didn't get a picture of all of them. Also everyone else got matching jammies from mom. It was AWESOME! We really didn't do anything...the women went and saw Tangled with Chaela. Suprisingly it was really funny. I would like to have it when it comes out. Right now I can't really remember anything else. But it was fun just spending time with the family. It's nice to be back in Idaho though with just Nick, Koen, and I. Speaking of my baby, he is two and a half months now. So here is what is going on with him:

Two Months:

Smiling all the time

Getting a lot better at holding his head up, but not quite to where he can do it on his own

LOVES tummy time

Recognizes mom and dad's faces

Starting to laugh (although I haven't heard him. He only did it for Kristin)

Laughs in his sleep

Finally sleeping in the pack'n'play instead of his carseat

He is 23.5 inches long (one place told us this was the 61 percentile for height and another told us 75 percentile)

He is now 10 lbs 3.5 ounces

Getting too long for 3 month clothes but not nearly wide enough for them

His hair is starting to grow back in his bald spots

Loves to talk when he's happy. He takes after me haha

So that is my baby for now. He's pretty much awesome. I'll post pictures soon.

So this is turning into a really long post. But I wanted to write about my goal for the next few months. So starting on Monday I plan on starting Insanity. I don't want to lose weight I just want to get back in shape. Also, I want to start eating healthier. Not cut back on calories, just change what I'm eating. I should probably cut back on how much tv I'm watching, but I probably won't because I am out of books to read. Also, I want to start cooking more. I think Nick would appreciate that. So those are my goals for now.

And last part. I promise. We are both back in school this semester but it isn't nearly as stressful as last semester. Nick is only taking 12 credits, and I only have 6. This means we get to see each other more often! I'm really excited about most of my classes this semester. I'm getting ready for my senior recital. This means that the end of my college career is finally in sight. I'll be graduating in July!!! Also, I'm in this class called band practicum. I get to go to the middle school a few times a week and work with the students there and learn how to teach. I like this because it's going to help me get over my fear of student teaching. Also, I'm back at work now. I just had my first day back. It wasn't too bad. The only thing I don't like is that I am away from Koen for a long time now. I feel bad because Kristin has to watch him. Along with her own son. Not that Koen is a bad baby, he's just in that stage where he always wants to be held so she is always holding him.

So that's all for now I guess. And now I'm going to end this novel! Yay! Pictures soon!

Holidays

So it's the middle of the holiday season. For Thanksgiving we went and spent time with Nick's family. It was a lot of fun. While we were there we blessed Koen. Then we came back to school. Which was not fun. There's only a week and a half left though and then it's break time. This year we're spending Christmas with my family. It's going to be crazy. First Christmas with all of us together. And with all of the kids! I can't wait!! Really I don't have anything else to update on. So maybe I'll just put pictures of Koen up!

Two and a half weeks

So it's been a hectic time since Koen got here and I haven't had time to update this. Really nothing has happened since he was born. Let's see...I'm trying to do this quickly because Nick is going to be home soon and then we are going out of town. We went to the doctor when he was a few days old and was 5 pounds 14 oz. Then we went for a lactation thing to make sure he was eating alright and he was back up to his birth weight. Then we went to the doctor for a two week check up and he was 7 pounds!! He's huge! Haha not really but I can pretend. Also, I think he has colic. Or something like it. He likes to cry from about 10:30 to midnight almost every night. Nick's family came down to visit us the Friday after he was born and then mom and Kristin came the next Monday. It was really funny to see Kimball and Koen next to each other. Kimball pretty much tried to eat Koen once. It was funny to watch. Now dad's out here and it's been lots of fun having all the family out here. I went back to school last week. Not fun. Oh, so I guess I should write about when I went into labor...So I woke up Tuesday morning and I hurt a little bit but I wasn't having contractions so I didn't think anything of it, but after talking to my mom and sisters, we decided I should call the doctor just in case. The nurse I talked to didn't seem to think it was anything. She said it was normal to feel pressure but I could come in and get checked anyway. So I did. Turns out I was 4 cm dialated, my water thing was pretty much coming out of my cervix, and Koen was pushing down really hard. So the doctor was like, "Yeah, I think it's about time you had this baby. Let's get you to the hospital." Oh, ok great. So we went to the hospital, the broke my water (weirdest feeling EVER), and then they gave me the stuff that makes you have contractions. I didn't get the epidural at first because I could handle the contractions because they weren't that bad, but then they got bad so I asked for my epidural. It took them an hour and a half to give it to me. I wanted to cry. I hurt Nick's hand a lot while waiting for it. Once I got it though, greatest thing EVER. I was completely numb and didn't feel anything anymore. Also couldn't move my legs which was weird. This was about 5 at night (I was admitted into the hospital about 1:30 pm) I think, so Nick and I just sat around and watched tv for a while. My contractions were where they were supposed to be, but I wasn't dialated enough yet so we had to keep waiting. We watched Ellen, and she had Willow Smith on there and she sang that Whip my Hair song. It's weird and I don't like it. Then we put on a movie. Then we put on another one, and by this time it was about 8:30 I think, and the nurse came back and checked me and was like alright, we're going to start you pushing soon. Fifteen minutes later I started pushing. Koen was coming out too quickly though and the doctor wasn't there yet so I had to stop and wait for him to get there. And then by 9:10 Koen was here!! So I had a very easy/short labor and delivery. It's been a great two and a half weeks and I can't believe that I have a kid now. I just love the times when I lay there with him and he just looks at me. I can't even describe the feeling. I love being a mother. Sometimes it's a little bit frustrating because he won't stop crying, but it doesn't really matter to me. I don't know if that makes sense. It's another of those things that I can't really explain. But Nick is going to be home soon so I should wrap this up.

These are some pictures of mommy and baby Koen. Koen is now around 7 pounds!! I'm at a -2 station, 2 and 1/2 cm and 75% effaced. I'm going to trust the doctor on this one because the nurse practioner told me last week I was 80% effaced. Not a big difference but oh well. On Saturday night I got really bad pains in my back and today when I described them to the doctor he was like, "Oh, those were contractions." So I asked, "Real ones? Not Braxton Hicks ones in my back?" He said, "Nope, those were real." I told him they hurt and he told me I reminded him of his wife when she was pregnant with their last kid. I like that doctor. Nick likes him too because he speaks Japanese. When he walked in Nick said something in Japanese and so they started talking and me and the nurse that were in there just kind of looked at each other. It's okay though because Nick never gets to talk to anyone. Sometimes our neighbor...Anyways. Back to my son. The doctor says he wouldn't be suprised if Koen comes out in the next few days. He doesn't think I'll make it the nine days til my due date. It's kind of a scary thought for me. I knew it was coming but now he's practically here. I still can't wrap my head around the thought that in just a few days I'm going to be a mom. I will have someone else in my life who, for now, depends entirely on me. It's crazy. Anyway. So I'm going back to the doctor on Saturday because even though he's growing, they want to keep an eye on us both because of my nephrotic syndrome. This makes sense. As the doctor put it, you don't want to get 99% of the flight done perfectly and then botch the landing because then the whole flight doesn't even matter. When I told mom I'm going back Saturday she said he would be born on Friday. Then she said if not Friday, then Sunday because that is the one day that I don't want him to be born. Dad disagrees. He says next Tuesday. I would be okay with Friday. Heck, I would be okay with tomorrow. But, it's all in the Lord's time and Koen will come when he is supposed to.

Koen update!

So a lot has happened lately concerning my child. Most of you already know what's going on but for those who don't here's what is going on. Last Thursday I had a doctor's appointment and found out that at almost 37 weeks I was measuring not even 35 weeks so the doctor decided I needed a growth ultrasound soon. So I got one on Tuesday and found out that yes, he is indeed small. They can estimate the weight of a baby I guess by measuring their abdomen. Koen apparently weighs about 6 pounds and 6 ounces which is small...I guess...but I don't think so. I would be okay with him coming out that size. So back to my baby. The doctor then decided I needed to come back on Thursday for a BPP test. This is yet another ultrasound for my child. It measured my fluid levels, his muscle tone, movements, and breathing movements. Everything was fine except for he is a butthead and would not do the breathing motions. This then led to me being hooked up to a machine with things on my stomach that monitored his heart rate and how strong my contractions were and then I got a little clicky thing to say when he moved. He decided it was nap time so they gave me some juice to get some sugar into him and wake him up and make him move. Which he did. After that they said everything looked fine and I didn't need to worry. Then they measured my stomach and I'm still barely measuring 35 weeks. So I'm going back in next Tuesday for another growth ultrasound to see if he's growing and if he hasn't or has for some reason lost weight then I guess it means that I will be induced. Spectacular. The only plus side I can see to this is that I will know when I am going into the hospital. My fear with not knowing when I'm going into the hospital is that I will go into labor in the middle of class. Or that Nick will be taking a test in the testing center and will have to have his phone off. Those are my fears. Anyway. I'm trying to remember if the doctor's said anything else interesting. Kristin told me to ask about hair and if they can see it on the ultrasound. They can. It looks like Koen only has a little bit of peach fuzz. So, sorry mom, Koen is not going to be a hairy little monkey like you thought. Also from last Tuesday when we were in getting our ultrasound, we had this girl who was like obsessed with his nose and mouth so she gave us a picture she took and he seriously looks like an angry monkey. Nick and I decided this ultrasound would not be going up online as it is not attractive in the least, but for some reason the girl doing the ultrasound thought it was so cute. Dang, I keep having thoughts of what else I want to say in the middle of writing something else and then I finish that thought but can't remember what I wanted to say. It's really frustrating.
In other news, Nick and I are still both in school and it sucks. For him anyways, my classes are fairly easy still. I get to sit around and make flowers. It's quite fun for me. And my teachers are being awesome about when I have the baby. My flower arranging teacher says I can bring him to class, and my art teacher says I only have to come to class once a week and they will alter my assignments AND I can bring Koen with me. Nick is still doing all his crazy math and science classes that take up forever amounts of his time. Earlier this week I went and sat with him while he was in a study group and oh my goodness I honestly felt like I was Penny from t

he Big Bang. I mean honestly. They sat there and threw out these huge words that no one in their right mind would even know. And there were jokes that again, no normal person would understand. But it's okay. Nick's nerdliness will pay off one day. And I have to throw out now that despite his nerdliness, it is part of the reason that I love him. Speaking of my wonderful husband, he has been great these last few weeks of my pregnancy when it comes to me being in pain. He constantly rubs my back because (here is a little tidbit I forgot to mention when talking about Koen) suprise suprise, my child is ON MY SPINE. Which causes me a lot of pain, so Nick helps me by rubbing my back for me. He is great. I also got to quit my job finally. And got my license renewed so now I can legally drive again (not that I know how to drive my car yet). Also one last piece of information about my pregnancy and then I will end this novel. Last Thursday (Oct. 14) I was 0 cm dialated and 0% effaced, and as of Tuesday (because I didn't want them checking again today because it is PAINFUL) I am 1 cm dialated and 80% effaced. Yes, I am finally making progress!!!

So this is something I get to spend part of some of my days doing. Personally I think it's great fun. Nick told me that I should spend my time doing something useful. I think this could turn out to be pretty dang useful one day. Maybe.

So now it's October and I guess that means it's time for my monthly posting. School is still going on and it's still really frustrating because Nick is always doing homework or studying for a test or meeting with a study group. It never seems to get any easier for him. It's incredibly frustrating for me because I never see him or get to spend time with him. This last weekend we got to spend time together though. It was conference weekend and we both took the weekend off of work to listen to it. It was a way good conference too. I love being able to listen to general authorities speak.
In other news, I am due exactly one month from today and I have a feeling this month is going to go incredibly slow just so Koen will be able to kick the crap out of me all he wants. Like now. It seems to be his favorite thing to do. That and get hiccups pretty intensely. I won't be sorry to have that stop in my body. I find that as the time gets closer for him to come, there's more I won't be sorry to see go. My large stomach for one. And the swelling will go down, hopefully. And the itchiness. Also I will be excited to be able to lay on my stomach again. Nick thinks that's really weird but I miss it. I also miss sleep but I know that won't come again for quite some time. Like a year almost...oh well. Really that's all that's going on in our lives. School and waiting for Koen to come out. Also, sorry there have been no pictures. My camera died and since we've moved I haven't been able to find my charger.

September!

So its been a long time since I've posted because since we got back from vacation things have been INSANE. I'm only posting right now because I'm waiting for Nick's huge paper thing to print off. It's taking a long time. So what's been going on since I last posted...We were in Ohio for two weeks and it was great. We went and saw wicked with mom and dad for both of our anniversaries. Everyone loved it. Even Nick. He went golfing a couple of times with Dad and said that Dad kept singing "Popular" while they were on the golf course. I thought that was really funny. Then mom caitlyn and I went to Illinois for the weekend for a shower and to see the family. It was fun. We got a lot of good stuff. I haven't put any pictures up lately either because I can't find my camera charger so it's almost dead. Also while we were in Ohio we discovered a game that Dad absolutely loves and so does Nick, but Mom's not a big fan of it. I'm thinking maybe Nick should get five crowns for Christmas (so if anyone is looking for an idea for him there you go even though it's still a long time away). Since we've been home school has started up again and it's not fun. Nick has no time for anything. He's only in five classes, but it seems like a lot more because all he ever does now is homework. I know in the end it will pay off, but right now it really sucks because I just want attention from him sometimes and he can't give it to me because he has to get homework done. It's ok though I guess. My classes aren't too bad and all of my teachers are willing to work with me after I have Koen. One teacher even says he'll alter my assignments for me and that I will only have to come in once a week so he can check them. And I can bring Koen with me. Speaking of my son, he is kicking the crap out of me all the time, including right now. He moves around so much it's crazy. Part of me wants him to come out right now so he will stop that but then the other part of me is like uh nope not ready for that yet.
I don't really have much more time though until he's here. Six and a half weeks. The doctors say I'm measuring exactly where I am supposed to be and from his heart beat, he sounds good. I'm still working more than twenty hours a week but that's not going to last much longer because the last three times I've worked my back has been KILLING me. It's to the point where I have to pull one of the big chairs from the lobby and put it back by the register for me to use when we're busy. I talked to my boss and she says she's going to gradually cut back my hours. Kind of sucks money wise because we need it, but it doesn't really because the doctor's told me already that I shouldn't be standing for long periods of time...My shifts at work are usually around 7 hours...Other side story. Kristin came and visited last weekend and it was way fun because I didn't think I would see her or Kimball until Christmas time. We didn't really do a whole lot because I was in school and working but it was still way good to see her. And she may possibly be coming again in October and again in November because Kimball has another doctor's appointment around the same time Koen is due so she will get to meet him!! Haha and she might come up again in December if Nick and I need help during finals week with getting someone to watch him. We still don't know what we're going to do while we are both in class...I have a lot of friends who are willing to take him for the hour but we'll see I guess. Anyway, Nick's thing is done printing and I have to get up early tomorrow.

Vacations and goings on

So here is what's been happening lately. Last weekend we went up to Twin Falls again to visit Nick's family. It was way fun. We went to Roaring Springs water park which was interesting for me being pregnant. I could only do the wave pool and float on the lazy river, which I was more than content with since I'm not really a water slide fan. Then we went home and worked for the rest of the week. On Tuesday we drove down to Utah to visit Nick's sister and her husband for a night before we flew out to Ohio. Now we are in Ohio!!! The flight here was uneventful sort of. But while we were trying to go through security in Utah it was not a fun experience for me. We got all checked in and our luggage through fine, but then we got to security. Nick got through fine. For me however, my license is expired, but only for four months. I didn't think that would be a big deal because it's less than a year old but apparently that is not so. They still took it, but then after going through the normal security thing, they made me go into a second security check. They took EVERYTHING out of my bags and what not and scanned it all, after it had gone through their other scanner which made absolutely no sense to me but whatever. I was frustrated by this point. And hungry. But everything was fine because obviously I am not a terrorist or trying to transport anything illegal. I just can't believe they made me go through this all because my license is LESS than four months expired. So moral of the story: Don't fly with an expired license.

Update

So mainly I'm doing this to make mom happy because nothing has happened. All our exciting stuff is happening in the next few weeks. So let's see. I'm out of school now so all Nick and I are doing is working our butts off to save money for when Koen gets here. On my last paycheck I had about sixty hours which I think is just plain ridiculous, but I guess in the end is worth it. Koen is getting bigger still which is obviously good. He likes to kick the crap out of me. And move into REALLY uncomfortable positions so I push him and he moves into another uncomfortable position. But that's good because it means he's getting big!! Really that's all I can say about him right now because we don't get anymore ultrasounds so the next time we see him will be in November which is CRAZY! Let's see...we're going down to Twin tomorrow to visit Nick's family for the weekend and on Monday we're all going to Boise to go to some water park. A little pointless for me because I can't go on waterslides but I'm still excited because it means I can relax and get rid of my Rexburg paleness. Then in two weeks we're going to Ohio!! It's crazy to think we haven't been there in a year. It also means I get to see my niece's, one which I've never even met before and she's already getting super big. Also Kristin and Jacob left the great state of Idaho which sucks for me and Nick because it means we have no more friends. And no more Kimball. Thats mainly who I miss. Haha. Ok well I think that's everything that anyone needs to hear...or else this will turn into me rambling. Haha because it wasn't already...

News!

So here's what's been going on lately. On June 18 Nick and I got to find out what we were having. First though we had to drive someone in the ward up to Idaho Falls for a doctor's appointment. While we were waiting for her we decided to go to target to look around at baby clothes. We found the perfect outfit! It's a little green onsie that says Daddy's caddy in training on it. It's probably for little boys but we decided since it's green it could be gender neutral since we didn't know what we were having yet. Anyways. So we got back to Rexburg just in time for my appointment and we went in and got the ultrasound done...Usually they tell you the gender last, but our little one was in the perfect position apparently to tell what it was so the ultrasound lady told us...She was like well, here's one leg, here's the second...and there's a third. Then me, being the smart person that I am and kind of in shock, asked so, it's a boy? So there it is! We're having a boy!! He moves around now all the time. Sometimes it scares me because I'll be spacing out and then all of a sudden he'll move really hard and I jump. The doctors also say that he looks really healthy and everything is where it should be so Nick and I were happy about that. In other news, Nick and I just moved into a new apartment and we love it because it's bigger. It's also a lot more social than our other place and we know mostly everyone here because it's still in our same ward. Let's see...we're also going to Ohio for two weeks at the end of August and we are so excited!! Well I am at least. We're going to visit Nick's family this next weekend for the fourth. Again, really excited. And then his sisters are coming to visit us soon too. And then school will be over! I cannot wait because this has been such a stressful semester for me. Not that the next one will be any better I don't think, I mean, halfway through I'm going to be having a kid. Who by the way we are naming Koen Paul. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Weekend with the family

So it's already June which is crazy to me but it also means that this semester is halfway over!! And let me tell you, it's been stressful. I can't even imagine how the next three will go with a kid here. Enough about that though. Here's what's been going on lately. Kristin had her baby (finally)! Mom came out about a week and a half ago and she stayed here with Nick and I. Then Jordan and Dad came out on Friday and they also stayed with Nick and I, which was fun I guess but incredibly crowded in our tiny one bedroom apartment. The air mattress a friend of mom's loaned them took up the entire room and was taller than our couches. It was kind of funny. Monday we all went to Yellowstone because Jordan and Jacob have never been there. It was fun. Kind of cold though. And when we weren't spending hours upon hours in the car to get to the next place, we walked. A lot. Let me tell you and I'm sure you all know this. Walking while you're pregnant is not fun. Especially at the lower falls. They're pretty, but to get to them you have to walk down the side of a mountain. Back and forth I think ten times. Going down is fine. Going back up however was another story. They had benches at every turn and I'm pretty sure I made Jordan and Nick stop at every other one. At first it was to "let mom and dad catch up," but then I finally admitted that it was because I could not breathe. Ridiculous. Nick told me I needed to work out more. I laughed at him and told him it probably wouldn't get better. That's pretty much Yellowstone. Mom, Dad, and Jordan left us there. They went on to Montana and the rest of us headed back to wonderful Idaho, where it has been raining, snowing, windy, and any other terrible kind of weather you can imagine. In June. I'm so tired of it. I can't wait til Nick and I have graduated and he goes to dental school. NOT IN IDAHO!! Because there isn't one here. Darn. Not. Anyway. It's really nice to have the apartment back to ourselves again and to be able to spend time with each other. It was kind of hard on us I'm not going to lie...Change of subject. I had a doctor's appointment last friday. I really wish they would tell me before hand what it is they are going to have me do. I was not prepared for them to draw blood from me so I didn't eat anything because since my family was in town we were going out to breakfast afterwards. But they were nice about it and gave me some food. Also, we scheduled the appointment where we get to find out what it is!!! I am so excited to be able to say he or she. Not it. We even have decided on a name for a boy finally, but with our luck it will be a girl. We're still having problems picking out a name for girls but we've got it narrowed down to two. Aubrey and Addelyn. I don't think that's how we would spell that but I'm too tired right now to figure anything else out and I'm sure Caitlyn will tell me how to spell it...But that is our life right now. Same as always pretty much except for family visiting.

Life in General

So I have been super bored sitting at home waiting for Lindsay to come home from work, enough that I've decided to write on this blog. Unfortunately I work during the day shift now so I can get more hours in, which some nights (like this one) it means I get to sit at home bored waiting for my wife to come home and see her for a few minutes before she passes out. This week has been interesting. On monday it was hard for me to focus at work and after since Jacob and Kristin were in the hospital and I was so stoked for them both. It was really awesome to go and visit them after Kimball was born. Really made me jealous. I keep telling Lindsay to pop hers out faster for us cuz now I am way too excited for ours to come. Sucks that we have to wait another month or so before we can even find out what sex our baby is. I'm pretty confident it is a boy though since I've already had 3 dreams about it. Lindsay is great and I appreciate her a lot. After reading her previous posts I'm really glad she decided to stay with me. Well ran out of time. Lindsay is off so now I get to pick her up yay!

Discovery

I have discovered that I can cook! I just don't like to or don't have the time, but when I do it I am actually a pretty decent cook. Which suprised me because I thought I was cooking impaired. I guess that's one of the things you discover with marriage. I have discovered some interesting recipes too. Some good some not so good. My list of things that I can cook has gone from spaghetti and enchiladas to those shredded beef sandwich things Caitlyn makes, pesto stuffed pork chops, some pasta carbonara thing, creamy herbed pasta and beef and broccoli noodle bowls! It's interesting though because even though I know some of these are things my mom has never made I still find myself calling her about five times for one recipe. She is spectacular and I love that she puts up with my questions even though she has much better things to do, I know. So, it's mother's day, so HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY mom! I love you and you are wonderful and amazing!!!

10 honest things

So Nick is playing a video game and I finished all of my homework and Caitlyn challenged me to do this so I guess I will. Although I can already tell it's going to be hard...

1. Even though I'm going into music and am supposed to LOVE playing my instrument, I actually kind of dread the two hours everyday that I am supposed to play my flute. It's not really fun anymore so I don't enjoy it. But I'm not going to change my major because I absolutely love the rest of the music program. And I'm good at it too.

2. Like my sisters, I am terrified of being a parent. I don't know what to expect at all. I mean, if I'm having a girl I would expect her to be like me, but apparently Dad has compared both of Caitlyn's daughters to me. So if she's raising kids like me, then what should I expect? And to have another life besides mine completely dependant on me for a while? It's a scary thought because I'm hardly an adult.

3. I have not had any morning sickness at all in my pregnancy and I have about four days left in my first trimester. I'm one of the lucky ones I guess. Even so, being pregnant is not as fun for me so far as it is for Kristin. Maybe because it still doesn't seem real, but I feel like I'm limited now to certain things. I just want it to be November and be done with being pregnant already. It makes me super cranky and really emotional. And irrational. Nick has told me that next time I say hey I think its time we try and get pregnant again he's probably going to say no because of how I am now. Not that we're only going to have one kid, he's just going to I guess think about it more carefully now that he knows what to expect.

4. I absolutely do not like golf. I think it is the most boring sport on the planet. Sorry Dad. Nick loves it though and so does the majority of his family. I watched the masters with them and still cannot see the appeal to it.

5. I'm afraid I'm never going to get out of working in food. It's kind of an irrational fear I know. I mean, I almost have a teaching degree. But in all honesty, when will I be able to teach in the next ten years. We're going to be having kids and Nick will (hopefully) be in dental school. Someone has to work and make money for our family. While working, I have to raise our kids while Nick is away at school. It's going to be an interesting few years coming up.

6. I'm in a class this semester that is all about teaching and working with people who have disabilities. For three hours this semester we have to go to a place that is for adults with disabilities. Even though I have an aunt with down syndrome, I am still kind of nervous around people with disabilities. I don't know how to act around them, even though we're supposed to just treat them like normal people.

7. Before Nick and I got engaged I almost ended things for another guy. I don't even know if it would have worked out with the other guy, but I was seriously having my doubts about Nick (sadly). Obviously not anymore because we are happily married. It was kind of a miserable time for me though.

8. I read entirely too much. Even while I'm in school, I read books instead of doing homework. And I read fast too. I can read about five or six books by the time Nick reads one and that's not an exaggeration sadly.

9. In high school I used to think that everything that was going on was so important and would effect (affect?) the rest of my life. I see now that I was completely wrong and those things don't really even matter at all. The only thing that has affected my life is band because that is what I'm doing with my life right now.

10. I have only ever really had three "official" boyfriends. Shocking, huh? It's true though. I used to be, as Caitlyn calls it i guess, a flake. My phase didn't last nearly as long as hers though because mine was only right after high school to the end of my first semester. Then I didn't date anyone for a year. And then I started dating Nick. In those few months of me being a "flake" I kissed about five different guys...Then I went home and realized I was an idiot.

So there's my 10 things. I'm not going to challenge anyone because the only people on here that would read this have either already been challenged or already done this.

Now I'm going to write about my recent doctor's appointment.

So I went in on Friday for what I thought was just going to be some blood work. Wrong! The nurse asked me if I'd had a pap smear yet and when I told her no she was like oh well you're getting one today then. Oh great. Wasn't ready for that. Luckily the doctors at my clinic are super nice and distract you while they are doing unpleasant things. I ended up not getting blood work done that day because Nick and I decided I should get the tests done for down syndrome and something that starts with a t and has 18 in it. Also some nuchal thing. I guess I should get more informed about what they are doing to me. Anyway, they made me come back on Saturday for that. I had to get an ultrasound done where the baby has to be in a specific position and guess what? Mine wasn't. I asked the lady doing the ultrasound if that was common and she said it only happened to every 1 in 10 people. Great. My child is already stubborn. Lovely. Anyway. It took five attempts at different kind of ultrasounds (three abdominal and two...not) to get my child in the right position. It was kind of frustrating. And uncomfortable. But in the process of all of this, while we were waiting for my baby to move, the nurse got a shot of the legs and was like, "Oh, so I know it's really early to tell so this is probably wrong and don't get your hopes up, but it kind of looks like you're having a boy. See those are his legs and that, well that could be a scrotum." But I'm not getting my hopes up because I'm only 13 and a half weeks along. But Maya you could be right. That would be dang impressive. Pretty much the rest of the appointment was bloodwork which I am proud to say did not make me pass out even though I freak myself out and almost make myself hyperventilate about stuff like that. The nurse was really nice and distracted me and Nick stood by me and held my hand while I buried my head in his arm and he stroked my hair. It was calming. And I love him. He's great. lately I've been getting irritated so easily, and a lot of the time i take it out on him, but he usually just takes it. I could not have asked for a better husband.

BABY!!

So as everyone who actually reads this already knows. I'm pregnant!!! Yay!! But I am not due until November 4 so that is still a really long time a way. Sad. But hopefully it goes by fast what with my being in school. I like to think of it this way. One and a half semesters left until my baby is here! So I went to the doctor last Friday and got my first ultrasound which was fine at first and then was slightly uncomfortable. But there really is something in there which is great news for me because I'm paranoid. And it has a heart beat, also something I worried about. It's heart is beating 191 beats per minute right now which is awesome. Also there is (thankfully) only one in there. I think I would have cried had there been two. Nick apparently did want twins though because he thought it would have been cool. I just like to look at him and laugh because one kid will be hopefully doable while I'm in school and I shouldn't have to take time off but if there were two in there, no way would I be able to do it. But I can. So I go back to the doctor on the 30 of this month and then I will get blood work done (yuck) and we will get to hear its heartbeat!!! I can't wait until June though when we can actually find out what we are having. Nick and I have already started thinking about names and we had some we liked but then I kept looking and found more that I like. The ones we started with were Jayden Kaleb and Koen Zachary for a boy (Nick picked those names before I even mentioned all the little boys in our ward). Funnily enough Nick also likes the name Casen. I thought that was really funny, but they are really good names...If it's a girl we're thinking about Aubrey Nicole, but then I found a Japanese name that I really like but Nick isn't too fond of and I don't know why. It's Emi, and it means blessing, favour, or beautiful. Japanese names have cool meanings. Anyways. I really like that name but can't think of a middle name to go with it. Any suggestions so maybe I can change Nick's mind? Anyways. So aside from the baby news, nothing is going on. Nick and I are getting ready to end the semester and finish up all our finals. Then we head down to Twin Falls for a few days to visit his family and then I get to go back to school while Nick gets a break until September. Lucky. But he's going to be working I guess...Kristin is walking this Saturday for graduation even though she graduated last semester, so Nick and I are going to that to support her. Yesterday for Easter Nick and I listened to General Conference and between sessions we colored eggs which apparently Nick has never done before. In all his 22 years of life. Crazy. Then we hid some plastic eggs filled with M&Ms. Also, in one he stuck a piece of paper that said we could go out to dinner someplace nice whenever I want to which is nice because I really want Olive Garden...But here are the pictures of what we've been up to and also the ultrasounds I have. Nick thinks it's a boy because in one of them it's foot is sticking out and he thinks it's really big. He's crazy though but what can I say, I love him.

Help please!

Alright so neither one of us is good at this whole posting thing I guess. So I figured I would do it while Nick is out home teaching. Nothing has been going on (big suprise!). We both started school up again and for me it's not too bad. I stay in the same building all day and my classes consist of a fairly easy theory class, music history, a percussion class, and private lessons. Not a hard load. Nick on the other hand is taking ridiculous classes that stress me out from just watching him. I don't know all of what he's taking but I do know he's taking Organic Chem and some math class called Statics (yes it is statics not statistics like I thought) and some other ME classes. Crazy. So between work and school and all our homework we don't really see each other a whole lot which is sad. In other news I have decided that I am going to throw Kris a baby shower sometime in the end of March and I have no idea of what to do. So if anyone has any ideas please let me know. I still have two months but I think it would be good to start now so I don't run out of time because I feel like I'm going to get super busy in the next month with band....super.

update

So it's been super long i guess since either one of us has posted anything. Probably because nothing has really happened. Let's see...since the last post...we went to Chicago and spent Thanksgiving with my family. Our car died right when we got to Orem. Luckily Nick's sister lives there and thats where we were headed so we were sort of stranded there without a way to get to the airport the next day so I ended up calling my old babysitter Rosalie from way back in the day when I lived in Morris and she gave us a ride. It was good to go back and see the family. I didn't really get to spend a whole lot of time with dad or Jordan though since they got there pretty much a day before we left. The time we got with them was great though. When we got back to utah jacob's mom ended up picking us up from the airport. From her house, Nicks uncle picked us up and then from his house, Nicks dad came and got us and brought us back to Twin Falls. We spent the remainder of our break with his family and they lent us a car which we have been driving for the past month. This year Christmas was different for me because I was away from my family and with Nick's family. It was good though. They are great and I love them. It's been nice. all we've done since getting here is relax. Well, sort of. I have. Nick has been a little bit sick and he's been out helping his dad with carpet a few times. And car shopping. Which was successful by the way, we got a new car!!! Yay!! It's a 2005 toyota corolla. It's stick shift though so I don't know how to drive it. But I'm going to learn. Eventually. Anyways. That's been our life for now I guess. School starts in a week which I am not happy about. I'm super jealous of Kristin because she's done. I shouldn't be in school but I decided I wanted to graduate earlier and I am on fast track. Great. Anyways. Thats really all. The last semester ended uneventfully. I was happy with my grades though. 4 A's and 4 A-s and one C+ in my stupid writing class. Yup. Anyways. Story of my life and this post is super boring and now its done.

Pictures

So there's one more week until Thanksgiving break (THANK GOODNESS). I'm way excited because I am about ready to keel over from stress. Anyways really nothing is going on right now I just have some pictures to put up here. But one story I do have from my flute sectional today. So our band director had a meeting he had to go to so he wasn't there so the "assistant" band director ran our sectional. He is also still a student and in a bunch of my classes and my neighbor. He's a way nice guy and is always super nice to people. There's this one kid who plays pic in our band and for some reason has an issue with Bryan (student director). Can't figure out why. But anyways. Today Bryan asked this student if he was tonguing something that should have been slurred. Travis (student) said yes he was tonguing and he was going to continue to tongue the note even though his music said to slur it. Pretty much he was just giving Bryan a lot of crap about how he just doesn't care what the music says, he's going to play it how he wants to because "it's not that big a deal." This is false. All articulations in music are very important. Composers put them there for a reason. Anyways. Back to my story. Bryan is taking this all very well and is trying to help Travis, who continues to disregard every word of Bryans. Finally, I get fed up with this so I speak up. All I say is seriously? This guy is a teacher. You wouldn't talk to Bro. Neilsen that way. Just practice it how it's supposed to be played. Then he freaks out at me. Then Bryan just asks him what he thinks Bro. Neilsen would tell him to do to which he replies he would tell me to practice. Then he proceeds to say he doesn't care anymore and walks out. Seriously? We're in college. If you have a problem with someone that is not the way to go about it. This kid is a freshman and thinks he's basically all that. Travis and I are friends, but there was no reason for him to treat Bryan like that. It was super immature and I don't know how Bryan just stood there and took it. Kudos to him though because I wanted to slap the kid. Anyways. Makes me kind of not look forward to teaching because I know I'll have students who are like that and I have very little patience. Anyways. Nick just threw a piece of pasta at the wall. Haha. Back to why I really posted...Kristin is showing and here are some pictures of her!!

Ok that's all in my life right now. Sorry it's kind of super boring. Oh well!! One more week until Chicago!! Then maybe I'll have more to write about. Oh yeah! I don't know how I could forget this. Nick's mom and his two sisters came down this past weekend to go to a Collegiate dance show and it was so much fun to have them here. I'm way excited to see them after we go to Chicago. And to have them come back the first weekend in December. They're way fun to hang out with.

Home Alone

Well I am at our apartment right now home alone. My wife is working like she usually does around the weekends. I noticed that this blog is looking really...girly and decided I needed to help it. I don't have time to change the background or I would haha, so I guess I'll just post something so at least I'm on this thing. Everything is moving along great. Lindsay had a lot to whine about in those last few posts but she's really doing fine. I definitely pamper her too much at times I think. She forgot to mention that on the subway customer appreciation day I surprised her a visit and brought her a Jamba Juice. She was happy for that. Life is good, busy with school and work but we are surviving. I'm shocked it has already been two months since we got married. Thank goodness we have eternity together cuz time is flying by. We are almost to our year mark when we first started seeing eachother. That also means Jacob and Kristin will have been married a year already. Wow I'm starting to feel older just saying this stuff. I love my laptop and probably take too good of care of it haha. I have pictures of our apartment when we first moved in before it got way messy so I'll try to fit time in to post them this week. Well I have to go back to my lame calculus studies but at least this blog has been officially schenk'd.

Fiestas, Pumpkins and Cinnamon Rolls

So I'm in one of the bands out here and as all bands, we have parties. Since we're playing the Carmen Suite in my band and one of the other bands is doing something mexican also, we decided to have a fiesta! It was fun even though we weren't there for the whole time. It was good though. Free tacos so I didn't have to cook. Then there were pinatas also. Jacob and Nick were really excited. They both got to hit it. Then we went back to mine and Nick's place to hang out. I've decided I really miss carving pumpkins and whatnot. Last night Kris and Jacob came over and all four of us carved some pumpkins. It was way fun. Made me miss the good old days of our family all going out together and getting pumpkins then carving them together. Anyways. So we did that for a while and then cleaned up and then Kris and I made cinnamon rolls which didn't end up getting done until about 10:30. Jacob and Nick rented a movie and wouldn't tell us what it was until it was playing. They decided to rent Arachnophobia. Not cool. We watched it anyway though. Now I'm afraid of deadly spiders coming from nowhere and killing everyone. I don't recommend it to people if you're not a fan of spiders. Then after that to make things better, we put on It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Great movie. Ugh. Let me just rant for a second about work Friday night. Someone up high in the Subway chain decided that there should be such a thing as "customer appreciation day." Who does that? Basically what it was is a buy one footlong get one free thing. That many people coming in and getting mass amounts of sandwiches does not make me appreciate people. Not a good night at work pretty much. There was a solid line of customers to the door from 4 to at least 830. Also. I wasn't supposed to go into work until 4 but since I don't have time to go home on Fridays between class and work I just went in to work. As soon as I got there, mass amounts of people came in and they needed help or else they would have run out of bread. Cool for them because they're leaving. Not for me because I had to close. Not having any bread is not a good way to start a shift. Anyways, it's over now and hopefully I won't have to deal with it again.

Just a thought

So I just thought this was really cool and wanted to share it with people. Yesterday morning Nick and I were getting ready for school and our neighbor knocked on the door. I thought it was weird at first. It was 7:20 in the morning. Who does that? Then he asked Nick if he could give him a blessing. After that, I was thinking, how awesome is it that we can just walk next door and ask for a blessing. I mean for me all I have to do is look at the person next to me, but same idea. I didn't grow up with that so it's a new experience to me. It made me realize how lucky I am that I got married in the temple and have a husband who holds the priesthood and can do things like give me a blessing. Anyways. I just thought it was the coolest thing ever since I always had to go to some other place to get a blessing while I was growing up.

Just Bored

So nothing has changed. School started and its way stressful for both of us. Let's see...we got our financial aid and got new toys with it. Nick got a new lap top and I got a new flute (finally). Nick is telling me to get up and help clean. Our apartment is a disaster and the bishop is coming over tomorrow so we need to clean tonight because I am in class from 7:45 in the morning til 6:45 at night (oh how I love Tuesdays...) and the bishop is coming over at 7 tomorrow. Lovely. We went to Twin this past weekend. It was fun. We got to hang out with his family for a little while. Except his mom. She was out of town which was sad. Since none of the women in his family that were there were old enough to go to Relief Society and I would rather not go by myself I got to go to Young Womens with Nick's sisters. It was fun. For once they didn't talk about getting married. It was kind of weird though and they added a new value. Virtue. It's gold. Then we had to write down as many fruits and vegetables as we could think of. Nick's sister won that game and got a sweet potato squash. Anyone know anything to do with those? She tried to pawn it off on me but that didn't happen. Also this weekend we got a CD with all our pictures from the Twin Falls reception so maybe I'll put some of those up. We'll see. I'm putting them on facebook right now and it's taking FOREVER. I'm ready for a break. It's only the fifth week of school and I can't handle it already. Let me just whine for a minute. I'm on campus all day, I never get to see my husband, I have to try and find time to squeeze in two hours a day of flute practice, and I have to have a whole bunch of scale exercises passed off by the end of the semester and as of right now its not looking too great. Oh well though. I'm trying. That was my whining. Ok well I'm going to try and put some of our pictures up from the reception out in Idaho now. If there's none on here it's because I gave up. And if our apartment ever gets clean I'll put some of those on here too. Also. Caitlyn I tried to do better with my grammar. Just for you. Ha. Dang. I accidentally uploaded the same picture twice and it won't let me delete it. Probably because I'm technilogically retarded. I'm sure Caitlyn is going to leave me a comment and tell me that.

blog!

So here is our blog...i don't have my computer so i can't really put anything on it yet...pictures anyways. but hopefully ill get it back soon then i can put things up here. like things from our wedding and our new apartment which kristin has deemed super cute. since our wedding nothing has happened really. we went to twin falls last weekend and spent a few days with his family and had a second reception which was nice. also. we finally got our bed last night so we don't have to sleep on an air mattress anymore which is AWESOME!! school starts again in two days which im not excited about. its going to be interesting going to school working and being married all at the same time. obviously its doable. but anyways. first post! yay!
